— Block Parties established the foundation of the HipHop community in the seventies. Peace, unity, love and having fun is the concept.
The gathering of dancers, musicians and other artists is still relevant nowadays. DJ CutNice, Jane Doe, Civil and FS Green set the vibe, while Jiggy Dje, Winne, Joya Mooi, Aquanova, Rosa Ana, and the US duo Fashawn & Exile claim the stage.
— Masterclasses
The program starts with Masterclasses of two old skool legends: bgirl Hurricane from Paris and Swedish popper Damon Frost. They both teach at de Doelen. — Beat 'Em Up battles
In collaboration with Rotterdams beat collective 'Beat Em Up' there will be a beat battle between 4 beat-creators at de Doelen. During a Q & A with American producer Exile they get the opportunity to produce a beat. After the Q & A the beats will be exposed to the crowd. Exile decides which beat is best. The winner receives a Beat 'Em Up package.
— Fatlace Massacre Battle
This one on one bboy battle has an untypical concept: After the judges decide the winner, the loser has to take of his shoes and hand it to the winner. At the end of the tournament the winner exchanges his bulk of sneakers for a grand prize and a fresh pair of sneakers. The shoes will be donated to a good cause. The soles of these sneakers will be recycled and used to build playgrounds. Besides the judges, DJ Cutnice and Mario Bee operate this battle. These two hiphopheads from Rotterdam are sneakerfreaks themselves. After the battle DJ Renegade (UK) will play some funky tunes so the poppers get get their shine in a popping cipher. |
— Sneaker-Exchange market
Sneaker collectors, fans and consumers can expose, buy, sell and trade their sneakers at this market at De Doelen. Collectors from various countries are invited to participate. Part of the exchange market are the Girls Got Kicks Photobooth, a film program and sneaker art.
— Girls Got Kicks Photobooth
American collector Lori Lobenstein of Female Sneaker Fiend is in the process of making a book on sneaker culture amongst female collectors named Girls Got Kicks. She already travelled to New York, Miami and Melbourne. To make sure Dutch collectors are represented in this book, photographer Loni Schick from Canada opens a studio a De Doelen, so female collectors can be shot with their collection. |

Pimp Fu
Korte film/NL/2004/2min.
Regie: Philip Soultrotter Rachid
Never step ons ome fresh sneakers, or else….! This is what the pimp
discovers the hard way.
Sneakers, van straat tot catwalk
documentaire/NL/2005/60min.
regie: Femke Wolting
massaconsument of echte sneakerkenner, skater ofhiphopper, old skooler of
hightechliefhebber, trendsetter, of -volger.
speelfilmfragmenten uit onder meer Fast Times at Ridgemont High en Do The Right
Thing illustreren de opkomst van de sneakercultuur.
