A female HipHop timeline, a karaoke mixtape, videoportraits of local dancers and oldskool footage of Dutch female MC's.
De expo started out last spring in 't Gemaal, a small exhibit space in the south of Rotterdam. Street Science brings the collection to the CBK, Rotterdams centre for visual art.

Mambo to Hip Hop:

A South Bronx Story
documentary by Henry Chalfant
featuring: Grandmaster Caz, Ray Barretto, Tito Puento, Rocksteady Crew

Henry Chalfant, creator of Style Wars, made a documentary of HipHop's birth as seen from the Puertorican community in The Bronx.
A colorful portrait with images of New York's music scene of the sixties and seventies, interviews with Eddie Palmieri, Celia Cruz and DJ Charlie Chase

Performance
The gap between traditional street shows and theatreshows is closing fast. UK's HipHoptheatre pioneer Jonzi D has built many bridges over the years. Street Science is proud to have Jonzi open this year's festival with a keynote speech. Caribbean soil fed the roots that HipHop was built on. From Kool Herc's sound system in the Bronx to Jonzi D's bboy stance in London…

Soultrotter (Soul Warriors, Amsterdam) and Enano (Speedy Angels, Venezuela) both created a solo performance. Authenticity is the key word as these two performances were initiated and developed within the bboy community. Soultrotter performs 'Circles of Soul' and Enano's show is called 'Evolution'.

— Gimme a Break Party
On this opening night there'll be three DJ's behind the turntables: DJ Stay Fun, DJ Hooch en KC the Funkaholic play disco, breaks en funk. They'll be supported by American bboy TekNYC, who controls the mic.
Gimme a Break Parties have been around since 1999, providing all ingredients for a crowd with rhythm.
